Nova

Filed under: Music — Screenhog @ 1:51 pm

I have a new piece of music in the Music Player called “Nova”. I was one of many people who had the opportunity to audition for a big music job, and although I didn’t get that particular job, I was allowed to put the audition up.

The Third Christmas

Hi. My name is Joseph.

You may have heard of me. My name comes up a lot this time of year, because over 2000 years ago, my wife, Mary, gave birth to a son, named Jesus. The celebration of his birth is called Christmas, and the story of how Jesus was born has been sometimes called “the first Christmas”. It’s a story that has been told and retold many times, and is a wonderful memory for me… but if I may, I’d like to tell you a different story this year.

It began about two months before Jesus’ second birthday. I was fixing the roof of our home in Bethlehem one night when we received a visit from a group of Persian scholars. They called themselves the Magi, and had come to Jerusalem a few days before looking for a baby who, they said, was to become “King of the Jews”.

Now, you have to realize that Jesus’ birth was very special, and I don’t mean that in a proud father sort of way. God himself caused Mary to have this child, and when he was born, his appearance was heralded by angels. Within weeks of his birth, two different prophets came to us, proclaiming that he would be a saviour of Israel.

Bullet Mario – Sketch and Song

One day, I decided to come up with a completely new powerup for the Mario Bros. universe… something that hadn’t been done before, but would fit in their universe without duplicating a powerup that Mario had previously been able to get. Thus, Bullet Mario was born!

Imagine, if you will, a wide open level of Super Mario Galaxy in which Bullet Bills are flying everywhere, and the only way to get to your destination is to fly with them as a bullet. But beware, because hitting a wall will destroy a Bullet Bill, and as Bullet Mario, if you hit a wall, it will destroy you too.

I figured that would be a cool idea for a level, so I made a song for it entitled “Billions of Bullet Bills”. You’ll find it at the Music Player, song number 20.

Jacks Out The Window

Filed under: My Games — Tags: — Screenhog @ 8:34 pm

Wondering what exactly I’ve been doing for the last year? Well, one of the things was that I made a card game!

Yes, a card game. You know those things people play when they’re not around their computers? Yeah, one of those.

Anywho, the game is called Jacks Out The Window, and it’s available for sale! So, if you’re one of those people that regularly has a family game night, I invite you to give it a try.

NOTE: If you live outside of the USA, the shipping rate is pretty steep. Sorry… I have no control over that. If there’s enough interest in the game outside of the USA, though, I might be able to work something out.

Cave of Creeps and Clarinets

Filed under: Music — Tags: — Screenhog @ 7:46 pm

I’ve added Song #19 to the Music Player! It’s called “Cave of Creeps and Clarinets”, and it’s playing right now in an exclusive area of Club Penguin’s Halloween party. Here’s a direct link to the song.

The inspiration from this song came from the Club Penguin team’s desire to make a song that was equal parts spooky and jazzy, in a similar style to the “Grim Grinning Ghosts” song from the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland. I’m not a huge Halloween fan, but it seemed like a pretty fun challenge, and I’m quite happy with how it turned out.

Oh, and that eerie melody halfway through the song? That’s me whistling, with a whole lot of echo added.

See you in November!

Hello, Screenhog.com readers!

I know that this site has been, for the most part, dead for about a year. Last November I stopped my twice-a-week posting to do other things. Well, I’m coming back. Starting at some point in November, I’m going to go back to a twice-a-week update schedule again. At least, that’s the plan.

See you soon.
